Eat Drink & Be Merry

My December’s Mantra

: aaaand he’s off :

Holidays = Eat and Drink and Drink some more… Coffee by day – Wine by night! I mean let’s keep it real. And when the “in laws” are around it’s just all about great wine, and do they have impeccable taste! They are sincerely amazing and fun people and I am beyond blessed to have them as a part of Theo’s and my life. I’m so excited they just got us a beautiful set of wine glasses and decanter for Christmas, but I believe it may have been more for their enjoyment when visiting us in Dallas lol!

I can never get enough of Theo’s furrowed brow. And kids got brow game for days! Theo literally has a scowl on almost 75 percent of the time I think which is so strange because he’s honestly such a happy and chill kid. His personality is hysterical now yet he’s so serious and focused just figuring things out. We are seriously so blessed to have such a loving, fun, and patient little boy. Love my little goon!

Ok now for the important stuff! I seriously love coordinating with my little fashion accessory! He’s honestly the best part of getting dressed most days. Some days I start with my outfit, some days I start with his. People always ask how I dress us to coordinate without being too matchy-matchy. First of all, I think it helps having a little boy vs a girl because then I can wear a skirt or dress while he has on jeans and suspenders etc versus both wearing adorable matching dresses. (I ain’t hatin on all you girl moms out there! ūüėČ I’m certain if I’m ever blessed with one I will at some point do the same.) ¬†But in the meantime here’s sort of my thought process while styling a “mommy and me” look, and I would use the same approach to a mother daughter look.

Start with ONE article to focus on and work from there. Whether it’s yours or your mini’s. Today I wanted to wear this fun holiday top I found at Nordstrom¬†a few weeks ago for some holiday shopping to get in the “Merry” mood. It’s seriously so soft and I can never have enough olive/army green in my life!

Then remembered this cute little coat I found at Nordstrom Rack for Theo that was a dark olive and navy plaid with leather sleeves and hood. It’s by Urban Republic and they have had quite a few color variations over the fall season so far. (They have big and little kids sizes mommies!) I found his in store, but have seen them on their website/app which I’ll link below.

Since that came to mind for him and there was leather on his jacket I decided to go with my Favorite Fall Staple – leather leggings from BCBG. I own a gazillion pairs of their’s and they’ve proved to be so durable! Any-who so moving on, I topped my look with a Helmut Lang wool blazer with leather sleeves I found in NYC late this summer at Bergdorfs. For added layering I grabbed an Aritzia gray wool menswear inspired coat from last year as well. More for the early morning cold and then late evening chill since I knew I was going to be out late.

Going back to Theo’s Threads I decided on this GAP sweater I bought not long ago that has a cool almost tribal print to it with shades of greens and blues and grays which complement the jackets colors. Chose to go with gray jeans for him with the gray choice in my coat and the gray in his sweater which also helps lighten his look up since his jacket is dark and heavy. Popped on an olive beanie and a pair of suspenders to pull his look together. Lastly, I let my little goon J-walk for the day in these cool teal Jordans that are within the same green family, but are still a pop of color to add fun and interest to his look.

Lastly I chose my Christian Louboutin heels that I swear are comfortable and bc they have shades of olive/brown colors in them and make a statement. (They are from like 2 years ago, but I could have popped something like an animal leopard print or something too.) Red lips helped make my otherwise dark and streamlined outfit festive!

You’re a trooper if you made it all the way through lol. Hope you enjoyed my personal insight for how I style a Mommy & Me look, and more importantly that it inspires you to try something new!
