Life is Art… Paint Your Dreams Little One!
Today I’m sharing my DIY canvas painting that was such a fun and creative activity for my toddler and it’s the perfect holiday gift idea! Not only was this DIY canvas painting idea a great way to get my little ones creative juices flowing, but I got some very personal and precious toddler artwork for our home! A personalized toddler painting from your little one is a great idea for a sentimental gift for the holidays, but even keep this in your arsenal as a super sweet mother’s/father’s day gift. We had such a fun morning of painting and while Theo was a tad timid at first, (he’s not quite the yeah lets get our hands dirty), but he got really into it as time went on. He creatively picked up a stick to use on his canvas at one point! It’s funny how different each of his canvases turned out. His first was very smooth straight strokes while the second is when he finally really got in to his artistic side lol! Almost even better was having my favorite girl from Beckley & Co, Rebecca, there to capture some sweet moments from our DIY canvas artwork painting fun. I had some of my favorite images framed to hang throughout our living space near Mr Theo’s masterpieces to help tie it all together in the room! I still love when he points out his painting or the pictures and talks about his artwork. It’s seriously so precious and great memories!
A toddler painting session with your mini can be such a fun and inexpensive way to make something special while getting them active and allowing their creativity come to life in a whole new way. I purchased these heavy duty canvases from Aaron’s Brothers along with some acrylic paint colors. They always have great deals on paint supplies and framing, just go to their website and check their current ad specials. They almost always rotate a 50% off or a buy one get one (BOGO) deal on their canvases and they have TONS of sizes! I’ve also entrusted them to do all my custom framing so far as well and most recently had a magnetic dry erase board framed to hang in the kitchen.
Just a heads up the acrylic paint washes off your skin so easy, but will stain your clothes. I just threw on some old jeans and t-shirts that obviously don’t matter if they got dirty. And honestly I haven’t brought myself to trash them bc of the memories lol! #hoarderforlife jk jk! Let me know what you think about this fun DIY for your toddler and be sure to tag me in any projects we’ve inspired you to try. And don’t forget to snap a couple photos of your little one while they are painting and put it in a frame for an extra sweet memento for whomever you are gifting. You can totally do this with an iPhone or your personal camera. Or do this for your own home and enjoy the memories and your babes masterpiece for years to come! Happy Painting!
