NIGHT or BUSINESS (below)
Summer months definitely call for plenty of casual outfit ideas! Between the Texas heat, being the mom of a two year old and working I am all about the perfect options that easily transition between roles. Plus add in constant travel during our summer months and I always am looking for those casual outfit ideas that you can throw on and go and are easily wearable and travel-able! T-shirt dresses have quickly become my go to. And praise the good Lord above for one the abundance of options lately plus the wearability of them as athleisure wear. I spend a ton of time in the summer traveling with my other half. I would say better except let’s be real I do the cooking, cleaning and organize his 175+ pair sneaker collection… Adidas please quit sending him free shoes, or at least send this momma a few 😉 LOL! Just kidding – he’s an overly-amazing dad and the most driven, hardworking and passionate person I know! Theo has a lot of shoes to fill – Literally… Hahahaha!
Back to fashion! I have quickly realized my new BFF is a great t-shirt dress with a perfect fit, and especially gives me some curve since I’m lacking. If you’re curvy, I swear I will slap you if you try to hide yours! Curves are natural and men and women alike love them. Anything like the black dress featured in this post or the Young Fabulous and Broke I featured like two posts ago look amazing on any body type because they accentuate the natural curves of a woman! they give you a waist, so whether you don’t have one (like my stick self), or you feel like you have too much of one, the knotting detailing draws the eye inward at what should be the smallest part of your waist! So it’s honestly a win for any body type!
What makes these dresses even more attractive is their ability to transition from situation to situation. For me, I go from kid to business meeting, to date night, to travel itinerary. I love the versatility these dresses give. When you pick a more modern, neutral, subtle option you can easily pair it with a sneaker like some adidas superstar originals or a New Balance 696 or a cute flat sandal for chasing the kiddos or running through the airport, then when you are headed to a cocktail hour with the girls or date night with your man just throw on a great heel and grab a clutch! For a business casual outfit perfect – throw on an easy wedge or kitten wedge/heel and you are money hunnie! Accessorizing is simple less is more for a more casual dress like this, especially when you’re doing more of an athleisure look with sneakers. You want to choose something more sleek, modern and simple. If its a sandal, flat or heeled, you can go with something slightly more bold like my amazing squash blossom necklace! These guys are so in right now and a real one will cost you a pretty penny. Fortunately enough there are lots of amazing and cool faux squash blossom option available that won’t break the bank! I’ve linked a few of my favorites below.
